LSA Committees and Volunteers




All Volunteers

Each summer, the new volunteers for the various committees (see below) meet with former officers and committee members to review the past year's efforts before assuming their duties. By August 1, the new volunteers meet again among themselves to discuss committee assignments and choose a new Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. Minutes from these meetings are posted on this page.

Executive Council

In addition to the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Past Chairperson, each committee selects one representative to serve on the Executive Council, which meets as needed to discuss LSA business. [Volunteers: Chelle Batchelor (Vice Chairperson and Web/News), Stephanie Midkiff (Social), Susan Mincks (Chairperson and Ways & Means), Jean Murphy (Program), Lisa Sieracki (Past Co-Chairperson), Harriett Smith (Past Co-Chairperson), Susan Stumpf (House), Linda Zimmerman (Welcome)]

Publicity Committee

Creates and mails flyers/invitations for all LSA functions. Maintains list of former staff who wish to be invited to LSA events. [Volunteers: Andrew Howell, Marion Obar]

House Committee

Maintains and improves the Knight Library staff lounge, returns cans and bottles for deposit refund, and arranges recycling for events. [Volunteers: Lesli Larson, Audrey Lee, Lisa Sieracki (Chair and Web Updater), Susan Stumpf (Exec. Rep.)]

Social Committee

Plans and organizes the holiday potluck in December and the retirement recognition tea in May. Also provides refreshments for other LSA events as needed. [Volunteers: Cathy Flynn-Purvis (Web Updater), Linda Hodgin, Duffy Knaus,Stephanie Midkiff (Exec. Rep.), Ann Muller (Chair), Shelia Stigall]

Ways and Means Committee

Develops LSA's budget, recruits members, raises funds, and conducts special projects that may be assigned to or originated by it. [Volunteers: Dennis Hyatt, Larry Laliberte, Susan Mincks (Chair), Lisa Sieracki (Web Updater)]

Program Committee

Plans programs, including the Gonzo Review, and recruits speakers/performers. [Volunteers: Barbara S. Butler, Duffy Knaus, Jean Murphy(Chair)]

Welcome Committee

Welcomes new employees and invites them to join the Library Staff Association. Maintains and updates an LSA brochure. [Volunteers: Mischa Buczkowski, Joanne Halgren, Stan Hall, Terry Smith (Web Updater and Minutes Taker), Linda Zimmerman (Chair and Exec. Rep.)]

Web/Newsletter Committee

Maintains a web site for the Association, and publishes a monthly web-based newsletter. [Volunteers: Chelle Batchelor, Lara Nesselroad, Lonni Sexton, Mark Watson]

Treasurer

Deposits dues, monitors checking and vending accounts, maintains petty cash, reimburses members for LSA expenses. [Volunteer: Kathy Wittwer]
