LSA NewsNo. 67, August 2005Gonzo exposes staff talent(story continued)and became a mass of swaying dancers. The first act wrapped up with Bruce Tabb playing an aria from Gluck's "Orpheo ed Euridice" on his new golden flute, followed by Tim and Barbara Jenkins and their son singing Caribbean songs while Tim provided guitar accompaniment. The second act began with a group of lovely dancers, the Belles of the
Branle (Leslie Bennett, Erica Rivera, Liesl Vorderstrasse, Heather Ward
and Aimee Yogi). Donning colorful handmade flower headpieces the group
danced four dances – the "Branle Burgundy," "Horse’s
Branle," "Montarde" and "Tordion". Next up, in
50's attire, Lori Robare and her talented teenaged daughter Libby tap-danced
to “Shake, Rattle and Roll.” The final acts included trumpeter Neil
Wilson playing “Prayer of Saint Gregory” by Alan Hovanhess, Ben
Farrell playing Three Dances from "Henry VIII" by Edward German on keyboard and
Victoria Mitchell wowing us with her talents as
an operatic soprano by singing "Una voce poco fa" from Rossini's
"The Barber of Seville." And with that, yet another Gonzo came to a close. Until
next year…
